Here is the Description on the Idle No More website & an event is on Facebook also.  Idle No More was asked on behalf of our Chief to assist in supporting Treaty 8’s call for action.  As a result, other groups/movements are supporting the event open to all Indigenous, Canadians, Allies, Settlers etc…as this Alberta First Nations Consultation Policy affects all of us and Indigenous Inherent & Treaty Rights are one of the best defences to strengthen/proclaim & reiterate our stand with the province.
Please forward & also all are encouraged to attend, there are 10,000 members on our band list, an estimated 5000 on reserve and many in Edmonton also, we should have a great turn out, as this is for our future & future generations.

“Article 25 of UN Declaration on the Rights of indigenous peoples:

Indigenous peoples have the right to maintain and strengthen their distinctive spiritual relationship with their traditionally owned or otherwise occupied and used lands, territories, waters and coastal seas and other resources and to uphold their responsibilities to future generations in this regard.

We look forward to seeing you there.

The First Nations of Treaty No. 6, Treaty No. 7, and Treaty No. 8 and its member organizations, and affiliates will be holding a Peaceful Rally on November 28th, 2013 in Edmonton, Alberta at the Alberta Legislative Building. Members of the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta will be planning, organizing the rally along with their Treaty 6, and 7 counterparts. The rally is in response to the lack of meaningful consultation on the legislations, policies, and regulatory changes put forth by the Government of Alberta.

RSVP ON FACEBOOK ALSO TODAY
The purpose of the rally is to unite First Nations, Albertans and Canadians that support environmental and Treaty Rights, and stand as Treaty partners to demand reconciliation and recognition to protect our lands, air, and water. To send the message to the government, that “no longer will any legislative policies, regulations and acts which negatively impact our Inherent, Treaty and Aboriginal Rights be allowed to pass quietly. Destruction to our ecosystem is occurring without our free, prior and informed consent and this has to stop. We will protect our Treaty and Aboriginal Rights, protect our lands, air and water; we will be heard loud and clear,” states Chief Mercredi before finishing “the environmental destruction that we are trying to curb does not just affect First Nations; Albertans should be more concerned. Our children are going to have live in this province together and they deserve better.”

WE ARE SEEING THE TRUE RESULT OF BILL C-45 & 38 NOW & OTHER LEGISLATION UNPROTECTING OUR LAND, WATER, & AIR

These violations include but not limited to the following focus:

  • Alberta First Nations Consulation Act which includes:
  • Treaty
  • Human Rights & Environmental
  • Obed Mine Spill
  • CNRL Oil Spill
  • Tar sands, Oil sands and the affects on water, land, and air

…Our Ecosystem is in critical condition!

“Is it ethical to disregard the terms of Treaty 8, by which we guaranteed native people that they would be able to obtain subsistence from the land?” – Dr. David Schindler

Oct 25, 2013 – A Call out to Chiefs of Treaties 6 & 7 was sent out on Oct 25, 2013 from Chief Trevor Mercredi, Chief of Livelihood, Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta. Chiefs of Treaty 6 & 7 accepted invitation and have agreed to join in solidarity with request of Idle No More Movement.
